Preliminary results on Y *1 and K* production in π-p collisions

  • Published:
Il Nuovo Cimento (1955-1965)

Summary

One hundred ninety-four cases of π + p→ hyperon + kaon + π have been observed in liquid hydrogen. Analysis shows evidence for the production of « K* » excited mesons in association with Σ- and Σ0, but not with λ0. Y *1 production in association with kaons is also observed. The Y *1 appears to be strongly polarized. The data suggest that the Y *1 has spin =1/2 and negative parity with respect to the λ0, but the results are not statistically conclusive.
