Measurements of the merit factorQ of an aluminium gravitational-wave antenna between 4.2 and 1.1 K

Il Nuovo Cimento B (1971-1996)

Summary

The quality factorQ of a small gravitational-wave antenna has been measured between 4.2 and 1.1 K. The dependence ofQ onT can be fitted by an expression linear in 1/T as well as by the formulaQ=Q 0 exp [Δε/kT]. In the latter case, one finds Δε≈7·10−5eV.
