Die Phyllosphäre, eine Zone hoher biologischer Aktivität

The phyllosphere—a marginal zone of high biological activity

Forstwissenschaftliches Centralblatt Aims and scope Submit manuscript

Summary

Recent publications on the structure and chemistry of cuticular waxes demonstrate the importance of this zone for plant pathology, ecology and plant nutrion via microorganisms. It is stressed, that the chemical and structural diversity of the phyllosphere will influence the settlement of epiphytes. The so formed, well-balanced system of interactions is finally overlayed by volatile substances ementating from inner tissues and emitting into the phyllosphere. These substances, too, are of a high biological activity.
