Two-prong proton-antiproton annihilation with formation of a pair of charged mesons

Summary

The cross-section for the two-prong, proton antiproton, annihilation with formation of a pair of charged mesons (π± or K±) is calculated, starting from the Sakurai theory of strong interactions and introducing the vector mesons ρ, ϕ etc. in the intermediate state. The agreement with experiments can be obtained if convenient form factors are introduced in the interactions.

Si calcola la sezione d’urto di annichilazione di un protone e un antiprotone con formazione di una coppia di mesoni carichi (π± o K±). Il calcolo si fa partendo dalla teoria di Sakurai delle interazioni forti, introducendo nello stato intermedio i mesoni vettoriali ρ e ϕ. Si ottiene un accordo coi risultati sperimentali introducendo nell’interazione dei fattori di forma convenienti.
