Measurement of π+π and π0π0 photoproduction differential cross-sections for incident γ-ray energies from 600 to 900 MeV

Summary

Cross-sections of the reactions γ+p→p+π+ and γ+p→p+π00 have been measured at the 1.1 Gev Frascati electrosynchrotron for photon energiesE γ between 600 and 900 MeV, for five proton momenta and at fixed proton laboratory angleθ p=32°. The cross-sections of π+π photoproduction exhibit behaviours in agreement with the Δ++ production; no immediate evidence is found of contribution of ππ interactions. The mean value of the ratio π+π0π0 is 2.7±0.3.

Riassunto

Presso l’elettrosincrotrone da 1.1 GeV di Frascati sono state misurate le sezioni d’urto dei processi γ+p→p+π+ e γ+p→p+π00 nell’intervallo di energia del gamma incidente (600÷900) MeV per cinque valori dell’impulso del protone e ad angolo fisso del protone nel laboratorio (θ p=32°). Le sezioni d’urto della fotoproduzione di π+π mostrano andamenti in buon accordo con l’ipotesi che questo processo sia dominato dal canale γ+p→Δ++; non si hanno prove immediate di contributi dovuti a interazioni ππ. Il valor medio determinato sperimentalmente del rapporto π+π0π0 è 2.7±0.3.

Были иэмерены поперечные сечения реакций γ+p→p+π+ и γ+p→p+π00 на 1.1 ГзВ злектросинхротроне Фраскати для знергий фотона Eг от 600 до 900 МзВ, для пяти импульсов протона и при фиксированном лабораторном угле протона θp=32°. Поперечные сечения фоторождения π+π обнаруживают поведение, согласуюшееся с рождением Δ++. Не обнаружено непосредственного подтверждения вклада лл вэаимодействий. Средняя величина отнощения π+π0π0 равна 2.7±0.3.
