Summary
The helicity amplitudes forT=1,J=1, π + π →
scattering are calculated. It is shown that a simple Breit-Wigner resonance formula does not give the correct contribution to low-energyS-andP-wave π-N scattering. A modified resonance formula is introduced which enables the π-N scattering data to be fitted and also fits the nucleon isovector form-factor data, provided the width of the ρ resonance is much less than previous estimates. This width, in the region of 50 MeV full-width, is compared with recent experimental data.

Si calcolano le ampiezze di elicità per lo scattering π + π →
,T=1,J=1. Si mostra che una semplice formula di risonanza di tipo Breit-Wigner non dà il corretto contributo allo scattering π-N di bassa energia in ondaS ed in ondaP. Si introduce una formula di risonanza modificata che permette di approssimare i dati dello scattering π-N ed anche i dati del fattore di forma isovettoriale del nucleone, purchè l’ampiezza della risonanza ρ sia molto inferiore alle stime precedenti. Quest’ampiezza, nella regione di 50 MeV (piena ampiezza), viene confrontata con i recenti dati sperimentali.
