Restrictions on the fireball (cluster) production and decay imposed by experimental inclusive single-particle momentum distributions

  • Published:
Il Nuovo Cimento A (1965-1970)

Summary

Under the assumption that particle production proceeds via the production of fireballs decaying independently of their formation according to a function with approximate exponential shape, a study has been made concerning the question of how the experimental inclusive single-particle momentum spectra impose restrictions on the variation with the fireball rapidityη of both the production probability of a fireball and its decay properties. The results concerning the fireball decay are compared with the predictions of various statistical models of cluster decay.

Furthermore we note that the Planck spectrum used for historical reasons is connected with a Boltzmann spectrum for the regions 0.14 <E ≲ 0.5 GeV only via a slight parallel shift.
