Summary
The angular distribution of the alpha-particles with respect to the direction of the single fragment and the correlated spectra have been measured in the fission of226Ra induced by 29 MeV protons. The results, compared with the analogous data for low excitation and spontaneous fission, show a noticeable widening of the angular distribution (FWHM=(68±7)°) and lower values of the mean energy of the alphaparticles. These features are commented upon in view of the possibility that the scission configuration in high-energy fission may differ from the normal asymmetric mode of fission observed at low excitation.
