Summary

Neutral-beam dynamics is here treated in the paraxial approximation with regard to the single-particle motion across special magnetic fields. Bending, focusing and acceleration conditions are found, both from the classical-mechanics point of view, for a neutral particle supplied with a magnetic moment, and from the quantum mechanics point view, for a spin-1/2 atom. The essential identity between the results obtained by both methods is demonstrated; also the analogy with the behaviour of a charged particle inside different magnetic fields is evidenced. Physical limits are discussed and a few hints at possible applications are given.

Si tratta la dinamica di una singola particella neutra, nell’approssimazione parassiale, in moto attraverso campi magnetici particolari. Si trovano le condizioni di curvatura, di focheggiamento e di accelerazione, sia dal punto di vista classico per una particella neutra dotata di momento magnetico, che dal punto di vista quantistico per un atomo di spin 1/2. Si dimostra la sostanziale identità dei risultati ottenuti con i due metodi; si mette pure in evidenza l’analogia con il comportamento di una particella carica in campi magnetici diversi. Si discutono le limitazioni fisiche e si fanno alcuni cenni a possibili applicazioni.

Рассматривается динамика нейтральных пучков в параксиальном приближении относительно движения отдельных частиц поперек специальных магнигных полей. Получены условия изгиба, фокусировки и ускорения, исходя из классической механики для нейтральных частиц, обладающих магнитным моментом, и с квантовомеханической точки зрения для атомо со спином половина. Показывается тождественность результатов, полученных двумя методами. Отмечается аналогия между поведением заркженных частиц в резличных магнитных полях. Обсуждаются физические пределы и приводятся указания для возможных приложений.
