Summary
The Adler treatment of the off-mass-shell corrections to pion-nucleon forward amplitudes has been re-examined in the light of the new experimental data. This treatment is found to be consistent both with the experimental knowledge on |g A | and with the chiral-symmetry-breaking scheme of Gell-Mann, Oakes and Renner, in whose framework it had previously been employed to evaluate the kaon-nucleon sigma-term.
