On the mathematical foundations of relativistic quantum mechanics of particles with variable mass

Summary

The mathematical formulation of the relativistic quantum theory of particles with variable mass is discussed. Some difficulties arising from it are removed and it is pointed out that there exists a generalization within the framework of its assumptions. The transformation properties of the space of the new spin operatorsη are considered. It is shown that the second-order wave equation of the theory necessarily involves terms linear in the displacement operators. A suggestion is made concerning an introduction of the isobaric spin space into the theory.

Si discute la formulazione matematica della teoria quantistica relativistica delle particelle con massa variabile. Si eliminano alcune delle difficoltà che ne derivano e si mette in evidenza che esiste una generalizzazione nel quadro delle sue ipotesi. Si studiano le proprietà di trasformazione dello spazio dei nuovi operatori di spinη. Si dimostra che l’equazione d’onda di secondo ordine della teoria comporta necessariamente termini lineari negli operatori di spostamento. Si formula un suggerimento riguardante l’introduzione nella teoria dello spazio dello spin isobarico.
