Summary

A method is proposed which allows us to calculate the entropy of biocompounds in the solid phase by the knowledge of the number of atoms contained in such compounds. The assumptions on which the method is based are described. Expected entropy values are given for biopolymers. In the case of proteins the method is checked by comparing calculated values with available experimental data. The agreement is within 4 per cent.
