Summary
The lattice dynamics of layered compounds is discussed on the basis of a set of two-dimensional lattices perturbed by weak interlayer interactions. Experimental observations which indicate quasi-two-dimensional character such as the temperature dependence of Debye temperatures and the Kohn anomalies are emphasized.
