Summary
The solution to Einstein’s equation coupled to an anisotropic fluid described by two perfect-fluid components is studied in the case that 1) the metric is given by four functions of two variables, 2) each fluid component is irrotational and 3) each one obeys the equation of state pressure=energy density. The method used consists in solving the equivalent problem of Einstein’s equations coupled to a complex massless scalar field. The following aspects of the solution are examined:a) the singular behaviour,b) the energy conditions,c) comoving systems of co-ordinates,d) special cases ande) particular solutions.
