Abstract
Using a steady-state technique, the variation of diffusion coefficient with composition for the Bi-Sn system was measured at 300°, 340°, and 400°C. At all temperatures the coefficient was found to go through a minimum value in the composition interval. The position of this minimum value moves from the bismuth end toward the tin end of the composition range as temperature increases. The behavior of the data at 340°C was found to be in agreement with the behavior which would be predicted from the Darken equation.
