Conclusion
The syndrome of bilateral lacerations of the broad ligament resulting from child-birth was first described in 1955. Its clinical significance has been emphasized as an etiologic factor in such pelvic symptomatology as dyspareunia, dysmenorrhea, menorrhagia and pelvic pain. A case of a strangulated bowel secondary to a herniation through a tear in the broad ligament has been presented. To the author’s knowledge this is the first reported case of a bowel obstruction complicating the Allen-Masters syndrome.
