Laser light of low power density does not influence chemotaxis and collagen synthesis of human dermal fibroblasts

Abstract

Since it has been thought that low energy laser has important biological effects in modulating connective tissue metabolism, this laser was utilized in the treatment of wound-healing defects and fibrotic diseases as well. We report here on in vitro experiments which demonstrate that laser light in dosages between 0.05 and 32 J cm−2 does not influence proliferation and protein synthesis of normal human dermal fibroblasts. There was also no effect on collagen synthesis and chemotaxis of these cells.
