Colonic lymphangiectasia: Report of two cases

  • Published:
Diseases of the Colon & Rectum

Summary

Two cases of lymphangiectasia of the colon are reported. Both patients were middle-aged and admitted excessive alcohol intake. Watery diarrhea and profound weakness were prominent symptoms. Dependent edema was present, and laboratory values showed anemia, hypokalemia, and hypoproteinemia. Resection of the part of the sigmoid colon in which bariumenema studies showed the greatest involvement relieved the diarrhea and the potassium-losing enteropathy.
