Relationship between growth hormone, insulin, and urinary oestrogens in hepatic cirrhosis

  • Published:
Acta diabetologia latina Aims and scope Submit manuscript

Summary

A significant negative correlation has been found in severe cirrhotics between HGH and proteinemia and HGH and albuminemia 60 min after insulin injection, as well as a significant positive correlation between HGH and oestrogenuria; these correlations were not observed in moderate cirrhotics. In view of the shape of the HGH curve it is considered likely that hypoproteinemia, hypoalbuminemia and possibly oestrogenuria cause a rapid increase of HGH secretion and slow down hormone degradation.
