Abstract

A method is considered for estimating the elastic parameters of soils, including the applicability range and test data; it is based on the transient oscillations of a probe (metal rod), and measurements have been made on how the contact with the soil affects the probe-soil elasticity coefficient. Rod parameters are recommended, together with a method of loading and a system for use under field conditions.
