Abstract
Death and morbidity resulting from infection in the immunosuppressed patient following renal transplantation has been much reduced as immunosuppressive regimens have become less aggressive. Such complications, however, remain a considerable risk to transplant recipients and the use of prophylactic antibiotics has been advocated.
This survey documents current practices and attitudes to the use of antibiotic prophylaxis in renal transplantation centres throughout Europe on the basis of response to a postal questionnaire.
