Abstract
Discs of urinary catheters with different coatings were exposed to a flow of artificial urine containing cells ofPseudomonas aeruginosa. Within 10 h an adherent biofilm consisting of the bacteria and their exopolysaccharide products had developed on those discs coated with latex, teflon, and silicon. In contrast, on the silver alloycoated catheter discs no biofilm ofPseudomonas aeruginosa had developed.
