Abstract
The experimental conditions for the elimination of interference from backscattered protons by magnetic deflection during analysis by prompt alpha spectrometry from (p, α) reactions was studied. The applicability of the technique to analysis is discussed from kinematics and Coulomb barrier considerations. A comparison is made between a surface barrier detector and a position-sensitive detector with reference to boron determination. A relative precision of 2.3% was attained.
