An electrical impedance technique for recording oviductal and uterine activity

  • Published:

Abstract

A technique is described for the chronic measurement of oviductal and uterine activity in the unanaesthetised rabbit. Based on the measurement of electrical impedance changes, it allows simultaneous recording from multiple segments of the fallopian tube and/or uterus for periods of up to twelve weeks. The electrodes do not invade the lumen or distort the normal anatomic relationships. Data is presented to illustrate the changes of impedance seen with endogenous and exogenous hormone stimulation.
