Abstract
Crystals of titanomagnetite have been grown from a barium borate flux in an iron crucible under an atmosphere of nitrogen following preliminary phase equilibrium and solubility studies. The crystals were octahedral, up to 4 mm in width, and their composition corresponded to the formula Fe2.12 Ti0.88 O4. The Néel point was found to be 195 K.
