Conclusion

The 40-yr operating experience with the hydraulic structures of the Moscow Canal revealed various aspects which must be taken into account in the design, construction, and operation of similar hydraulic structures. The defects due to forces that were noted on the structures indicate the need to conduct detailed investigations of them and to set up longterm observations of the stress-strain state of structures on a broader scale.
