Summary
Two types of larvae ofMalacosoma neustria (L.) different in their behaviour as well as in their activity, produce also layers of hemocytes of different thickness after parasitization by the tachinidMericia ampelus wilk. A nuclear polyhedrosis that occurred simultaneously killed both larval types at different speed. The possibility is discussed that the quality of the hemocyte reaction to parasitization depends not only directly on the larval type, but also indirectly through the polyhedrosis.
