David Lewis is a member of the UK Editorial Committee of CLE, and helped to organize the journal's 25th Anniversary Conference held in Exeter, UK, in September 1995. He writes about and reviews picture books and was recently awarded a doctorate for his research into the nature of picture book texts. He is particularly interested in the history of picture books, as well as in how young children read them. His chapter on picture book history appears inTalking Pictures (edited by Morag Styles and Victor Watson) to be published by Hodder and Stoughton in 1996.
