Summary

In 8 rats fed with a high sucrose diet an impaired glucose tolerance curve was found. In 5 of those 8 animals diffuse intercapillary glomerulosclerosis of the kidneys was observed. No such changes were present in 10 age-matched, starch-fed rats.

Résumé

Chez 8 rats soumis à un régime riche en saccharose, on a constaté une courbe de tolérance diminuée au glucose. Chez 5 de ces 8 animaux une glomérulosclérose intercapillaire diffuse des reins a été observée. Aucune de ces modifications n'était présente chez 10 rats de même âge nourris avec de l'amidon.

Zusammenfassung

Bei 8 mit einer Saccharose-reichen Diät gefütterten Ratten ließ sich eine Verringerung der Glucosetoleranz nachweisen. 5 der 8 Tiere zeigten eine diffuse intercapilläre Glomerulosclerose der Nieren. Keine dieser Veränderungen war bei 10 gleichaltrigen, mit Stärke ernährten Ratten festzustellen.
