Summary
A method is described with which algal production can be estimated if irradiance above and under water are known and the relationship is determined between production rate and irradiance. Large numbers of water samples can be quickly and efficiently processed. Some of the equipment developed and in use is also described. The reliability and precision of the method presented is shown to be reasonable if certain conditions are met.
