Summary

A method that permits routine-determinations of penicillins and the most important by- and degradation products during different production steps is described. Reversed-phase liquid chromatography is used as analysis technique. The spectrophotometrical detection is performed at a wavelength of 220 nm. The selectivity is significantly better than that of the chemical techniques used until now. The time of analysis is comparable to the chemical methods due to the automatization of the sample injection and the calculation of the data by a central laboratory data system.
