A commercial detector for monitoring the eluent from liquid chromatographic columns

  • Published:
Chromatographia Aims and scope Submit manuscript

Summary

The detector described in this paper represents a small step in the advancement of liquid chromatography. With such a device the column parameters can be studied with a view to optimizing the column performance. The availability of two different modes of detection broaden the range of application of the moving wire detector. The argon detector version [21] will ultimately be the most sensitive of the two detectors because of its higher ionization efficiency whereas the F.I.D. version [22] has the advantage of a higher operating temperature to reduce the risk of condensation of the solute (or its pyrolysis products) under investigation.
