Summary
The Green's function for an instantaneous line particle source turbulently diffusing under the action of a logarithmic shear wind is obtained by solving the two dimensional time dependent form of the turbulent diffusion equation for a particular unstable atmosphere. For the particular case considered here, the form of the equation is a linear homogeneous second order differential equation with variable coefficients associated with the space variables. It is shown that the solution becomes tractable if one transforms the original set of independent variables to an appropriate new set whereby the equation reduces to one involving variable coefficients which are at most functions of the variable associated with the time. The spacial distribution of the particles for several values of the time are plotted and examined.
