Abstract
Volunteer attrition is a common problem for Big Brothers/Big Sisters agencies. The present study investigated the utility of a self-report personality inventory, the 16 PF, as an attrition screening tool. Through discriminant analysis, the 16 PF correctly classified 100% of committed and uncommitted volunteers (N= 22). Committed volunteers tended to be more-conceptual, conscientious, and feelings-oriented than uncommitted volunteers.
