Summary
The influence of air and sub-surface heating, mist intensity, light intensity and moisture tension on the temperature of a number of different propagation media has been studied. The temperature of the media was always, equal or somewhat lower than the mean temperature of sub-surface (sand) and air. Small temperature differences were obtained between the various media. At high air or sand temperatures the temperatures of all media were higher when the media were at 8 cm moisture tension than when they were at zero tension.
The mist intensity had no influence on the temperature of media standing on sand at 1 cm soil moisture tension. For media standing at 8 cm tension the temperature decreased by about 1°C when a high mist intensity was used. The temperature of the media increased when subjected to natural or artificial radiation.
