Summary
Pulsatile long-term gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH) therapy with an average dosage of 8 μg/pulse i.v. in intervals of 90 min induced in a patient with hypothalamic amenorrhea the development of multiple ovarian cysts as visualized by ultrasonography. Estradiol (E2) plasma concentration reached values of 5000 pg/ml. These findings indicate that pulsatile GnRH application can induce ovarian hyperstimulation.
