Summary
The emulsifier activity of styrene-butadiene block copolymers of the AB type in polymeric oil-in-oil emulsions (POO-emulsions) has been studied as a function of the molecular weight of the block copolymer in the system polybutadiene-polystyrene-benzene. The emulsifier activity increases with increasing molecular weight of the block copolymer. The total molecular weight must be above 100,000 and the degrees of polymerization of each of the individual sequences must be above approximately 500 for a block copolymer to be a good POO-emulsifier.
