Intermediates of homogeneous deuterium exchange in alkanes catalyzed by Pt(II)

Abstract

The rate constants and distribution of deuterated products of the H-D exchange in alkanes (C1–C8) have been measured for aqueous solutions of K2PtCl4. The reaction involves the intermediate formation of alkyl, 1,1-(carbene). 1,2-(olefin), 1,3-(cyclopropane) and 1,4-(cyclobutane) type hydrocarbon complexes. The selective attack of Pt(II) on the primary, secondary and tertiary C−H bonds in alkanes (1∶1∶0) is due to the predominance of steric over polar effects.

Abstract

Измерены константы скорости и распределение дейтеропродуктов при H-D обмене алканов (C1–C8) в водных растворах K2PtCl4 и показано, что эта реакция включает промежуточное образование алкильных, 1,1-(карбеновых), 1,2-(олефиновых), 1,3-(циклопропановых) и 1,4-(циклобутановых) углеводородных комплексов. Селективность атаки Pt(II) на перв., втор., трет. C−H связи алканов (1∶1∶0) обусловлена превалированием пространственных факторов над электронными.
