Summary

For the first time in Switzerland, in 1981, a representative health survey has been realised.4002 adult Swiss people in 366 Communities have been selected at random. Data were collected through a combined personal interview and a written questionnaire. There were also included additional questions on other members of the household. Variables are grouped in health status, use of medical services, predisposing factors, enabling factors and other. The completion rate of full interviews varied from 74% to 87% in the three regions (over all: 81%).
