Abstract
Calculations for a discretely heterogeneous surface consisting of patches s1 and s2 with different adsorption heats of particles, Aads have been made. The calculated data show that under equilibrium distribution of particles between s1 and s2 the desorption rate over route II: s1* Aads → s2* Aads → Agas considerably increases compared to the “direct” desorption over route I: s1* Aads → Agas. This effect is ascribed to the entropy variations of adsorbed layers on patches s1 and s2.
