Abstract

The influence of addition of organic bases on the activity and selectivity of γ-alumina in the reaction of methanol and isobutanol to ethers has been studied. The correlation between the base strength and the alcohol conversion and catalytic selectivity towards methyl isobutyl ether (MIBE) was tested using various bases (pK 2–9).
