Gonococcensepsis met meningitis gonococcica bij blennorrhoea neonatorum

Samenvatting

Een geval van gonococcen-meningitis bij neonatorum wordt beschreven, volgende op ophtalmia neonatorum, waarbij de aanwezigheid van de gonococ in het patiëntenmateriaal (oogpus, lumbaal-, ventrikel- en subduraal vocht) wordt vastgesteld door de morphologische, cultureele en biochemische eigenschappen van deze microbe, alsmede door agglutinatie- en complementbindingsreactie.

In tegenstelling met 3 van dergelijke ziektegevallen uit de literatuur bleef deze zuigeling in leven.

L'auteur a décrit un cas de septicémie gonococcique avec méningite suppurée à gonocoques, précédée d'une ophtalmie blennorragique, où la présence de ce germe dans le pus et dans le liquide céphalo-rachidien a été prouvée par moyen de la morphologie, la culture, la fermentation du milieu glucosé, l'agglutination et la séroréaction blennorragique.

Contrairement aux trois cas de blennorragie des nouveauxnés, mentionnés depuis 1905, ce nourrisson-ci est guéri.

Zusammenfassung

Verfasser beschreibt einen Fall von Gonokokken-meningitis und -sepsis nach Blennorrhöa neonatorum bei einem Neugeborenen, wobei durch die morphologischen, kulturellen und biochemischen Eigenschaften des Gonokokkus, sowie durch Agglutination und Komplementbindungsreaktion das Vorhandensein von Gonokokken im Liquor festgestellt wird.

Im Gegensatz zu drei ähnlichen in der Litteratur beschriebenen Fällen bei Säuglingen, wobei der Patient einging, blieb dieses Kind leben.

Summary

The author describes a case of gonococcal conjunctivitis in a new-born infant, followed by gonococcal septicaemia and-meningitis, wherein the presence of the gonococcus is proved by the morphological, cultural and biochemical characters of this micro-organism and also by the agglutination and complement fixation test.

In contrast with three similar cases previously described in literature, this infant recovered.
