Abstract

A simple technique is described for high ligation of the inferior mesenteric artery and vein during resection of the rectum and rectosigmoid to facilitate excision of mesenteric lymph nodes and complete mobilization of the left colon, allowing for a tension-free coloanal or low colorectal anastomosis.
