Summary

In heterotopic allotransplantation of the canine heart without immunosuppression 5 out of 6 enzymes react in some way. There is no change in the values ofα-HBDH. The LDH is elevated 2 days before rejection, but this elevation is not significant. The GPT as well as the lysozyme start to rise 4 days before rejection with a statistically significant elevation one to 2 days before standstill of the transplant. The earliest index of rejection is a rise in serum GOT and CPK which in fact is already significant 4 days before complete rejection. The repeated determination and the careful analysis of these 4 enzymes may therefore contribute to the detection of heart rejection.
