Summary
This paper describes a method for the analysis and optimum design of servomechanisms. The transferfunctions of the open loop as well as the Nichols' diagram are used for the systematic and rapid solution of control problems. As an example of the application of this method, the calculation of an automatic control for the longitudinal axis of an aircraft is carried out. The simplest case is first considered, using a vertical gyro to control the pitchaxis of the airplane. In order to improve this system, a rategyro is added. This more complex system serves at the same time as a sample for the investigation of a multiloop system.
