Summary
Pink discoloration, observed by growers in Holland and England in peas and beans (Phaseolus), is caused byBacterium rubefaciens. Presumably the infection of the seeds had taken place during unfavourable weather at harvest-time. The bacterium can not be considered as a plant pathogen. The pink colour is soluble in water.
