On the representation and extrapolation of creep data of metals and technical alloys

Summary

On the basis of a survey of the creep behaviour of metals and alloys, and a detailed analysis of creep data of “Nimonic 90”, it is suggested that the representation of fracture times as function of the minimum, equilibrium, creep-rate in log-log coordinates provides a rational method for the abridgement of long-time creep tests of metals and industrially important alloys. The theoretical significance of this type of correlation is considered.
