Migrant selection in a natural population ofDrosophila

Summary

Migrant flies ofDrosophila nigrospiracula, a desert species, showed a higher rate of mating than non migrant flies. Increase of mating ability may be favoured by low migration rate, but its causes are not yet well understood. This is the first time that migrant selection is documented from nature.
