Summary
In the lateral body muscle of fish (Lebistes reticulatus) about 8 days old, a longitudinal non-fibrillar element could be observed over a length of 18 sarcomers. Its staining properties and its junction with the transverse tubules of the T-system imply that it is a part of the T-system.
