Abstract
This paper describes a new working method for the design and manufacturing of small-lot-size mechanical systems. The facilities of advanced CAD/CAM techniques require a new approach to the integration of design and manufacturing (IDIM). The theory of this study is being put into practice at the Equipment Engineering and Realisation Department of Philips Lighting, Eindhoven. Lead time reduction, cost effectiveness and quality improvement in practice are the objectives of this study.
